Our Work

Our Work

Preserving ancestral wisdom traditions and activating them as living resources for connection, resilience, and human flourishing.

Four Interconnected
Areas of Work

SITTI Foundation preserves ancestral wisdom traditions and activates them as living resources for connection, resilience, and human flourishing. Across cultures, music, storytelling, and shared ritual have long helped communities sustain identity, process hardship, and strengthen belonging. Through cultural preservation, community programs, and research collaboration, SITTI works to bring these traditions into the present in ways that support communities today.

Our work centers on four interconnected areas.

Cultural Preservation

Cultural Preservation

Many traditions carried by elders have never been documented and risk being lost. SITTI works to preserve these traditions through recordings, oral histories, and visual documentation that capture the songs, stories, and cultural knowledge passed down through generations. These efforts protect cultural memory while creating resources that future generations can access and learn from.

Community Programs & Gatherings

Community Programs & Gatherings

Music has long been a powerful force for bringing communities together. SITTI creates gatherings where people connect through shared voice, storytelling, and cultural traditions. These programs often take the form of concerts, workshops, and community events that invite participants to experience the emotional and cultural power of collective music. For many communities, these gatherings offer moments of reflection, connection, and renewal.

Global Storytelling

Global Storytelling

Stories and songs have long carried cultural memory across generations and across borders. SITTI works to share ancestral traditions through performances, recordings, media projects, and cultural collaborations that amplify the voices of elders and cultural knowledge keepers. By bringing these traditions to global audiences, SITTI helps preserve endangered cultural wisdom while fostering dialogue, understanding, and connection across cultures. Through music, storytelling, and visual documentation, these voices continue to travel — connecting communities and reminding us of the shared human experiences that unite us.

Research & Science

Research & Science

SITTI collaborates with researchers to explore how music, collective singing, and cultural traditions influence emotional well-being and social connection. In partnership with the Center for Healthy Minds at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, the foundation contributes to research examining how shared cultural practices can support resilience, belonging, and flourishing in modern communities. By combining cultural preservation with scientific inquiry, SITTI seeks to deepen understanding of how ancestral traditions support human well-being.

“When the voices of our elders disappear, entire histories can vanish with them. Preserving these traditions is an act of care for future generations.”
